The Great Work can be summed up as:
Restore Ourselves to Oneness
and Be a Light Unto Nations
Oneness Restoration is the first stage of the Great Work; the last stage is Being Light. In between is the practice of Letting Go and Letting Love In.
Letting Go is glossed over and set aside by everyone. The only point we return to its teachings is when we are close to completing Oneness Restoration. It is the capstone and the final touch to Oneness Restoration.
THE 3 STAGES OF THE GREAT WORK
Stage
1 - Restoring Our Vessel
- One component of our consciousness is a vessel-like structure
- Over many lifetimes, we store certain memories that, like acid, eat away the walls of our vessels; thereby, creating holes and decreasing our capacity to contain Love and give off Light
- We resolve those memories thru Oneness Restoration practices
2 - Letting Go and Letting Love In
Once we resolve or come to terms with those memories, we become more willing to let go of them; consequently, the holes in our vessel heal and our capacity to contain Love is restored
Love is the Stuff
Light is Made Of
Love already flows thru all of us; but it is only at this stage we begin to fill ourselves with Love.
EXERCISE: Watch Love fill you up, and prepare for the next and last stage.
CHECK: Once you have successfully cleaned and restored yourself to Oneness you will be able to contain Love. Your ability to Be Love should not fluctuate regardless what happens in your outside world.
3 - Radiate and Be a Light Unto Nations
Love is the stuff Light is made of. There is a way to radiate Love so we can be a Light unto nations. The Sun holds the secret to radiance.
Light Unto Nations is a term originated from verses in the Book of Isaiah:
- "Yea, He saith, 'It is too light a thing for you to be My servant, to establish the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the scions of Israel, and I shall submit you as a light unto the nations, to be My salvation until the end of the earth' Isaiah 49:6.
- "I the LORD have called unto you in righteousness, and have taken hold of your hand, and submitted you as the people's covenant, as a light unto the nations" Isaiah 42:6.
- "And unto your light, nations shall walk, and kings unto the brightness of your rising" Isaiah 60:3
I have been following the writings of Omraam Aivanhov. He and fellow-mystic Peter Deunov were sun gazers and practiced Surya Yoga or “Yoga of the Sun.”
Omraam says:
The sun shines on all creatures equally, whether they be saints or criminals, all receive its light, warmth and vitality whether they are grateful for these blessings or not.
In this sense, the sun can be said to be a physical representation of God, an expression of the trinity of love, wisdom and truth. It offers us a glorious image of perfection, inspiration for all those who strive towards a spiritual ideal.
Sunlightenment
Here is what Sadhguru said when asked about Surya Namaskar or Sun Salutation—
Q: Sadhguru, you said we shouldn’t look at Surya Namaskar as a physical exercise. What’s its purpose then?
Sadhguru replied:
The purpose is to generate your prana in such a way that it radiates like the sun . . . . The sun burns; this burning radiates and we all benefit from that.
And this is how a human being should be too – but he’s unwilling to be that way. He doesn’t radiate anything – he thinks he has to do. Petty human beings are just living on intentions which they think are lofty, which make them feel great. This is a poor way to exist. They find a little bit of fulfillment through their intentions, not by their way of being; they haven’t attained to such grandeur.
Surya Namaskar is designed in such a way that it makes your energies radiate. Then you don’t have to have good intentions; you don’t have to have any intentions. If you simply sit here, your presence is beautiful and beneficial . . . .
T. David Beck, author of "Luminous: Living the Presence and Power of Jesus," says:
Lest we think that shining with the presence of Jesus is only for the Mother Theresas of the world, I have been around other people who shine like this. I think of my friend Joan. Joan is petite, and now that she is "along in years," as she would put it, she wears thick glasses. Behind those glasses are eyes that are bright with all the youthfulness of a lover of God who keeps discovering more of who He is and can't wait to share Him with others. Many lives have been turned towards God because of her. . . . There is something about Joan. Whenever she is around, I experience a wave of God's love and peace. Joan shines with the presence of Jesus.
In an interview, “Journey of Souls” author Michael Newton was asked: “What have you learned about the Ultimate Source from all your experiences with your clients?”
Michael Newton replied: When I am at lectures, my audience will often say, "Well, when do we get to talk about God? So, when do your clients see God?” What they see . . . is “a great presence”
The Great Presence is What We All Are
The Great Presence is what we all are. It is what we have always been; but have long forgotten.
When we do our Great Work, we become the Sun to remember the Great Presence we are.
