<span class="entry-title-primary">Timing the Declaration of Independence</span> <span class="entry-subtitle">UNITED STATES</span>

Timing the Declaration of Independence UNITED STATES

There is a story behind the United States' declaration of independence.  While Americans celebrate independence on the 4th of July, the crucial vote for independence was cast two days earlier.  On July 2, 1776, the United Colonies of America officially became the United States of America.

John Adams thought July 2 would be celebrated by future generations of Americans when he wrote to his wife Abigail Adams:

"The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more."

BEHIND THE SCENES

Benjamin Franklin was a member of the committee that drafted the Declaration of Independence.  He was a man of importance in many areas and a master astrologer.  He and Thomas Jefferson, another all-around philosophical and scientific genius, conspired to have the Declaration of Independence adopted on July 4, rather than on July 2, the date urged by the hurried John Adams.

THE RIGHT TIME
On July 2, the Moon was in its weakest sign, Capricorn, where it would oppose the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Jupiter in Cancer—absolutely detrimental timing.

On July 4, the full Moon was safely resting in Aquarius, well out of opposition to the Sun—and the rest is history.

THE REAL ASTROLOGY CHART OF THE UNITED STATES
For many years, astrologers have heatedly debated on the time the Declaration of Independence was signed.  According to the Philadelphia Historical Society, "the Declaration was graced with its first signature at approximately five o’clock in the afternoon after which the members all went off to dine."

The two most common charts used by astrologers are set at 4:50 p.m. with an 8° Sagittarius Ascendant, and at 5:10 p.m. which places the Ascendant at 12° Sagittarius.

I have found the 5:10 p.m. chart to be accurate and aligned with major events, most especially the attack that took place on September 11, 2001.  On that fateful day, Pluto was at 12° Sagittarius.

Find Your Boyfriend’s Cat DERIVATIVE HOUSES

Manila, March 8, 2019 - Everything shows up in a chart.  You can find out what will happen to your boyfriend’s cat or to the car owned by your brother’s uncle-in-law.  You just need to know where to look.

The principle is known as “Derivative Houses.”   The process of deriving a house involves turning a chart around.

For example, my boyfriend’s cat—

1. "My boyfriend" is a 7th House matter.

2. Cats and other small pets belong to the 6th House.

3. My boyfriend’s cat would fall under my 12th House, which is six houses from my 7th House.

Manila, February 25, 2019 - Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are the higher expressions of Mercury, Venus and Mars respectively.

The secret to love
is really no secret at all—TITHE and RECEIVE

THE MYSTERY OF TITHING
A servant does not tithe because the master of the land needs it, he tithes to profess his allegiance.

Tithing and allegiance is easy to understand if you've ever been in love.  Everywhere you go, you find something to give to your lover.

If by chance, your lover is Christian Grey, wouldn't he give you 10x more?   What more would the Source of all things give in return?

Tithing is like priming a super pump.

You can tithe energetically.  The moment you wake up, give your first ounce of love to the Source of all things.  Repeat at any time of the day.  To mystics, this is Devotion.

Wait for His love.  It always overflows.  Bathe in it, and direct the overflow to areas of your life that are empty or broken.  Love heals.  In this way, you will never run out of love.

URANUS
Wherever you see Uranus in a chart, interpret it as "the highest thought" you can have.

What is my highest thought on:

1st House - self, image
2nd House - money, worth
3rd House - communicating
4th House - home, foundation, family

How the Moon Affects Us GUIDE TO MOON TRANSITS

MANILA, February 25, 2019 -

We all need to feel safe and secure. Whether we are aware or not, what fills this need changes depending on the Moon.

Jump to MOON SIGNS

ARIES
TAURUS
GEMINI
CANCER
LEO
VIRGO
LIBRA
SCORPIO
SAGITTARIUS
CAPRICORN

MOON IN ARIES, Ready-Set-Go

Coming from a sojourn in Pisces, your mood will change from hazy Cloud 9 to all-fired-up and ready to go!

You’ll have a terrific day if you:

  • Raise your hand to volunteer
  • Take the lead on short-term projects
  • Work fast and finish ahead
  • Double-check your work
  • Hit the gym

Be careful not to:

  • Drive too fast
  • Loose your cool
  • Fast track projects that require extensive planning
  • Make long-term commitments
  • Go on first dates

MOON IN TAURUS, The Feel Good Experiment

We all want to feel good inside.  How to get there depends on where the Moon is.

Let's do a "feel good" experiment.  Read thru the list of "things to do" below.  Choose 1-3 activities from the list. Try them out while the Moon is in Taurus.

THINGS TO DO

  • Think: self-care
  • Make an appointment with a good hair stylist
  • Buy a new plant, tend your garden
  • Open a savings account
  • Work on a long-term project
Admire a piece of art or jewelry
  • Walk slowly
  • Go about your day as calmly as you can
  • Have a classic bubble or Himalayan salt bath

Keep checking how you feel.

Yes, they are all "feel good" activities, but you won't feel "that good" doing any of those things when the Moon moves to the other signs.

The Moon moves quickly; she changes signs every two and a half days.

Astro-Speak: "The Moon is exalted in Taurus" means, she is in her best friend's house—that's why she feels so good.

FEELING OUT OF SORTS.
When life throws a curve ball and knocks us out of the groove, we feel out of sorts. From then on, its a downward spiral.

The sooner we get back in the groove, the better.

Check where the Moon is.  Let her sign tell you what you can do to get back in the groove.

Here's an Early Warning Device: If what you've been doing hardly matches what the Moon is saying, a curve ball is coming.

You're definitely in the groove when you intuitively know the Moon's mood.   Life feels so good.

The Moon moves quickly; she changes signs every two and a half days.

MOON IN GEMINI, Channel the Twinnies

When the Moon is in Gemini, we channel the mental twinnies:

Twinny 1 endows us with eagerness to search for new information.

Twinny 2 urges to connect and share the information with as many people as we can

Great!  There goes the chatter.  Everyone is particularly happy to get acquainted anyway.   Anything new you put out there while the Moon is in Gemini can go viral.

Later, it turns out we don't need half of the acquaintances we've made, and we are overloaded with information.  Now what?

• Fact check before sharing the latest news
• Verify if the source is an authority on the subject
• Do not take information point-blank, always ask “why”

Someone told me to stick my tongue out after giving something away.  I asked why.

The person replied, “Gee, I don’t know, some teacher said so.”

Above all this Moon in Gemini chatter, is a cosmic purpose.

THE COSMIC BRAIN
We are all connected by a brain-like structure, and our shared wish is to stay together and evolve.

Use it or lose it.  Just like the human brain, Cosmic Brain development is a wiring process, where connections between neurons are made.

Connections that are used regularly become stronger and develop new functions.  Connections left unused are eventually eliminated.

Our chattering "down here" when the Moon is in Gemini strengthens our connection "up there" and keeps us together—we sure don’t want to lose you.

MOON IN VIRGO, The Geeky Accountant

The Moon entered Virgo last night. Virgo is like an Accountant.

What do Accountants do best? What are their good and bad habits?

Among many things, Accountants:

  • Are good at moving things around
  • Are perfectionists, meticulous and geeky
  • Obsess until the numbers add up
  • Work hard

Let’s string things together.

Today, I feel safe and secure when I ____________________ (insert the qualities of an Accountant).

To know the area of life, run a bi-wheel.  Use this guide.

If the Moon is transiting your fourth House which represents your home, you could say:

Today, I feel safe and secure (Moon) when I move things around (Virgo) at home (4th House).

The Moon remains in a sign for about two and half days.

MOON IN LIBRA, Ms. Congeniality

The Moon has left Virgo—so, enough of pencil-pushing.  Now that she's in Libra, everyone feels cozy playing Ms. Congeniality.  Men included.

"Hello everyone!...Hi!"

For some strange reason, no one wants to hurt anyone's feelings, at least for now.  We take time to consider what others want.

"I like this. How about you?"...

"Really? You don't like it? Okay, let's find something we both like."

This is a good time to negotiate a tough deal.

If someone annoys you, wait it out.  There's a time for everything under the sun. Soon, the Moon will hurl herself at Scorpio.

MOON IN SCORPIO, Sweet Revenge

Scorpio is vindictive. When the Moon is in Scorpio, it feels good to lounge on a Sunday afternoon stabbing a pin cushion.

A woman poked her boyfriend's condom stash the moment she found out he was fooling around.

Scorpio, the sign following Libra and partnerships, is about riches shared by a couple.

Along with that is the sweet exchange of worth, and the danger of assigning one's worth to another.

The sweetest revenge is to amass enough self-worth to not seek it.

It's time to review your relationships. Did I give my partner the sole right to assess my worth?

TIPS:
1. Get to know Taurus, the sign of self-worth and opposite Scorpio.

2. Explore the quarters—Leo and Aquarius.  Regain your self-expression and hang out with some friends.

MOON IN SAGITTARIUS, Plan Your Next Travel

Get ready to scout airline deals and book tickets for your next travel when the Moon enters Sagittarius.

Sagittarius is like a hot air balloon that expands and takes you far, far away.

When the Moon is in Sagittarius, it is a good time to:

  • Expand your business
  • Trade with foreign countries
  • Travel to new places
  • Pursue higher studies

If you cannot travel physically, you could watch foreign films, try ethnic foods, and study foreign languages.

Spiritual Travel Deals and Happiness
While you're at it, check out spiritual travel deals.  Go beyond the physical world on bare fare.

PHYSICAL v. SPIRITUAL
What is the difference?  The physical world can be perceived thru our five sense organs.  Beyond that, is the spiritual realm.

Physical refers to the outer world, spiritual refers to our inner realm.

HAPPINESS
Recall the last time you felt happy?  What were you doing?

If you believe your happiness was caused by people, places, and things found in the physical world, your return ticket to the spiritual realm has yet to be issued.  And that's fine.

On the other hand, you are well on your way to the spiritual boarding gates when you realize:

• Relying on the physical world to bring you happiness is pointless
• Happiness springs from within

Let's go back to the last time you felt happy.  If you look closely, you will find that your happiness was not caused by the outer world.  You felt happy because you accepted the situation as it was, without wanting to change it.

Take a deep breath.  Exhale.

Each moment can be a happy moment, if you accept it just as it is.

MOON IN CAPRICORN, Defer to Authority

The King is dead.  Long live the Queen.  The Crown's most riveting scene by far is when Queen Mary of Teck folded her knees (1:30/ 1:57) the moment she saw Elizabeth, her granddaughter and new queen of England.

Such deference to the institution of authority is what we are most comfortable or uncomfortable with when the Moon is in Capricorn, and deference is by no means a sign of subservience.  It is recognizing the goodness proper authority brings whether as the person in authority or the subject of beneficent rule.

When the Moon is in Capricorn, it is good to:
• Be a benefic leader
• Adhere to protocol including dress codes
• Be responsible
• Draft a five-year business plan
• Defer to the wisdom of elders
• Mentor someone

Now is not the time to:
• Wear a goofy tie
• Go against authority, including traffic enforcers
• Appeal to emotion
• Show photos of drooling children
• Start a romance

When met with abuse of authority, tread carefully.Avoid trouble.  Take your grievance to the proper court.

MOON IN AQUARIUS, Why Not's

Why not have an affair?  Why not go on my own?  Why not travel the world alone?

Why not, why not, why not?

When the Moon is in Aquarius we get crazy, strange feelings of wanting to break free.

We feel restricted by societal norms, and wonder how bad it'll be to break them.

Hive mind is common. We gravitate toward friends who will not restrict us. We move away from significant others who keep reigning us in. This is when friends become lovers, and lovers become friends.

Hold on to your WHY NOTs. They are seeds of new beginnings you can plant during New Moon.

MOON IN PISCES, Drink Hot Cocoa

When the Moon is in Pisces, it's time to power down.  Drink hot cocoa and curl up on a warm couch.

Want More Money A 2nd HOUSE MATTER

Manila, January 9, 2019 – Money, self-worth and values are 2nd House matters.  It is said, you will attract more money if you value yourself more.

Is that true?

Many have tried to increase their sense of worth with the hopes of increasing money that flows thru them, but failed.

Here are the reasons:

1. The equation lacks a third leg—values.

Values are what we hold dear.  They are our crown jewels.  Only a few people have clearly defined what they value.

There is an exercise you can do before proceeding to #2.  Download the Core Values Exercise.

2. The second reason is, most people measure their worth based on what they own or what they have accomplished, and by comparing themselves with others.

Whereas, self-worth is not about what you own and what you have accomplished.  Self-worth is not to be measured against others.

Self-worth is knowing the values—the crown jewels—you already have and hold dear.

Self-worth is recognizing how worthy you already are.

If you did the Core Values Exercise, keep your actionable Core Values where you can see them.

Examples of Actionable Core Values
1. Live in freedom
2. Act with mindfulness
3. Promote well-being
4. Multiply happiness
5. Seek opportunities for making a difference

Refer to them when you need to make decisions. Refer to them when deciding on a new job or new business. Focus on your core values and you can expect more money to find its way to you.

Notes
1. Venus is the planetary ruler of Taurus. Taurus is the natural ruler of the 2nd House.
2. Money, self-worth, love and values belong to Venus. We love the things we value.

11:11 and Pluto TRANSITIONS & POWERFUL PRESENCE

Manila, January 9, 2019 – Have you been seeing 11:11 frequently?  I used to brush aside pop musings on seeing 11:11, until I kept seeing 11:11  too often to ignore.

11:11 portends a transition or doorway.  Pluto is responsible for setting up profound doorways in life.

PLUTO & DOORWAYS
Plutonian doorways are usually marked by extreme difficulty in a particular area of life, such as health, wealth, career and relationships.  Pluto's aim is to vehemently—with all its power—transform these areas of life.   And, the process can be destructive.

Think — massive volcano before, during, and after an eruption.

To confirm which area of your life Pluto is transforming, run a Transit bi-wheel.  Use this "HOW TO" guide.

While all Plutonian transformations are profound, the transition need not be painful and arduous. It can be be smooth and easy.

Pluto has two attributes: TRANSFORM and POWERFUL PRESENCE

From the two attributes, the smooth and easier road can be derived.

What kind of POWERFUL PRESENCE must I have to TRANSFORM this situation?

To answer the question, you must come up with your definition of 'powerful presence'.

Is it by bullying?  Coercing?  Throwing your weight around?

On the other end of the spectrum are people who are power-averse.  Their response to a difficult experience is to cower, believe they are helpless, and hand over their power to someone or something.

To cultivate a powerful presence, search for role models that fit your definition of POWER.  Look at scriptures.  Read biographies.  Hang a photo of your role model where you can see it.

CULTIVATING THE MOST POWERFUL PRESENCE

Q: What is the most important lesson to learn about Pluto?

Rami: To cultivate a powerful presence

Pluto is about power.   Nations have long defined power by "who controls the world's economy" and "who has the biggest nuclear warhead."  Most people have a similar concept of power—one that is based on coercion and instilling fear.

The highest form of power is a loving presence that does the opposite.  It dissolves fear and hatred.  It does not coerce.

“There is something about that person that touches me, but can’t explain it!”

You may have come across people who exude a powerful presence that soothes hearts and frees troubled minds without saying or doing much.   Their presence alone leads people to do good.  Their presence alone brings goodness.   That is the most powerful presence.

Q: Is it possible to cultivate that kind of powerful presence?

Rami: It is possible.

Astro-Speak
Because of its elliptical orbit, Pluto spends anywhere from 13-21 years in a sign.  As for Houses, the same range is used.  The size of a House varies.  Most people born near the equator have equal Houses.  Don't hold your breath— the time Pluto spends in a House means, we are given 13-21 years to transform a particular area of our life.

<span class="entry-title-primary">Soul Choice</span> <span class="entry-subtitle">BIRTHDAY RELOCATION Q&A</span>

Soul Choice BIRTHDAY RELOCATION Q&A

What is Birthday Relocation?

There are certain places where you can spend your birthday each year to help you achieve certain goals, resolve issues, and improve your situation.

The exact time is no more than 24 hours before or after your birthday.  You must plan on arriving at least a few hours earlier to cover travel delays.

After which, you may leave the place and travel onward.

Learn more about Birthday Relocations here.

I’ve heard of “soul choice.”  Which part of me is the soul and where exactly is my soul?

Birdbox is an interesting film from a creative standpoint.  The writer threw something new into the run-of-the-mill zombie plot—a blindfold.

Souls make choices before coming to Earth.  When souls get to Earth, they continue to make choices.  Coming to Earth would mean putting on blindfolds.  Here on Earth, soul’s are blindfolded.

"Soul" and “me” are not separate—"me" is simply a blindfolded soul.

While blindfolding accords the soul certain characteristics and personalities which can be seen in a birth chart, it limits the soul from “seeing.”

Here is where the film becomes brilliant—watch it to get a perspective on what it is like for a soul to enter Earth blindfolded.  When you get to the scenes where the characters need to wear blindfolds,  the film becomes exciting and heart-pounding, just like coming to Earth.

Synopsis of Birdbox
When a mysterious force decimates the population, only one thing is certain—if you see it, you die. The survivors must now avoid coming face to face with an entity that takes the form of their worst fears. Searching for hope and a new beginning, a woman and her children embark on a dangerous journey through the woods and down a river to find the one place that may offer sanctuary. To make it, they'll have to cover their eyes from the evil that chases them—and complete the trip blindfolded.

Will birthday relocation affect my soul’s choice?  Or was I predestined to meet you and ask for a Birthday Relocation reading?

Let’s say there are 10 decisions you need to make.  You will make your first decision without blindfold; you will make the other nine decisions on earth blindfolded.

The blindfolded "you" making decisions on Earth including whether to relocate or not, is not separate from the un-blindfolded "you."

Whatever decisions you make, blindfolded or not, go into the same pot.  When put that way, it hardly matters whether meeting me and having a birthday relocation reading was predestined or not.

I don’t believe in sheer randomness.  I believe in multiple story lines.  Meaning—there will be many forks along the road, and I could be waiting to meet you in one or more roads.   When you make a choice, a new set of circumstances show up and the other road or story line collapses. . . as you travel on Earth blindfolded.

Two roads diverged in a wood and I. . . .

WHAT and HOW
More importantly, there is a difference between WHAT and HOW.

Planets conspire to carry out WHAT you want to experience in this lifetime. Your level of consciousness determines HOW you will experience life.

Two people planned on eating cake. Person A obsessed on where to find the best cake. When he finally had a slice in front of him, he gobbled it up, stood up, and left. On the other hand, Person B enjoyed every bite.

We need to be less hooked on WHAT to experience— such as more money, a bigger house, better relationships—and more focused on HOW to experience each moment. Between WHAT and HOW, HOW is where you will find meaning.

Q: Can forks along the road be seen in a Birthday Relocation reading?  What exactly happens?

Yes, forks can be seen and are most evident when Pluto, the king of drama, is hovering at the top of the chart known as Midheaven.  A person's life will change dramatically.

INTERPRETING PLUTO
There will be a fork in the road, a destiny choice.  Whichever road you take will have a lasting effect and will determine your story line for years to come.  Whichever road you did not take collapses.

The trigger is usually career-oriented.  A person gets into a difficult situation at work, and a new career opportunity or new business endeavor shows up.  In other cases, the trigger was the death of someone significant or committing to a relationship in a serious way, such as marriage.

DEATH & RESURRECTION.  Pluto is both death and resurrection.  For a few weeks, the person is left wandering what might have been.  A part of them literally dies.  That’s the death flavor of Pluto.  All this is happening while the other part finds himself driving at 230 mph on the autobahn. T hat’s the exhilarating resurrection Pluto brings.

Friends who are more spiritual than I am keep saying, “Be careful. You could be interfering with the person’s soul choice.”  Is that even true?  In your case, as an astrologer... aren't you interfering?

Since I do not separate the soul from the blindfolded persona breathing on Earth, I would keep the statement simple.  “Be careful not to interfere.”  Period.  Just drop "soul choice."

No one really knows what was running in Yeat’s mind when he wrote Aedh Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven.  Some say he was in love.

Being blindfolded on Earth is like dreaming.  I like the last part of Yeat's poem.  It reminds me.

If you must interfere, be gentle. Tread softly. —Rami S.

Your Money in 2019 2018 – 2025: URANUS IN TAURUS

Manila, January 9, 2019 – From 2018 thru 2025, Uranus in Taurus will bring about a seven-year financial revolution.  Here’s your guide thru 2025, which includes:

• All About Uranus in Taurus
• 1934 – 1942: What Happened in the Past
• What to Do With Your Money
• 2018 – 2026: Uranus in Taurus Dates

Steve Harvey announced the wrong Ms. Universe at about 7:06 p.m. in Las Vegas, Nevada. Uranus was close to Midheaven at 16°Ari, square Mercury in 16°Cap, and trine the Vertex in 16°Sag

About Uranus in Taurus
Uranus is sudden when it appears on stage, often with a twist of fate.  Do you remember the moment Steve Harvey announced the wrong Miss Universe in 2015?  At that time in Las Vegas where the pageant took place, Uranus was close to Midheaven.

Uranus is electrifying.  Think: Michelangelo’s Creation of Adam.  It could bring lightning and freaky weather.  On the intellectual side, Uranus sponsors flashes of inspiration, brilliant ingenuity and futuristic technology.  On the economic and political front, it challenges the status quo, sponsors rebellious energy, and tears down old structures that no longer serve society.

One thing is for sure about Uranus—tt rules the unexpected, and anything could happen suddenly.

Taurus is the Zodiac’s money purse.  It rules banks and other financial institutions, money and monetary systems, and the need to feel financially secure.

When put together, Uranus in Taurus is a recipe for financial revolution.

1934 – 1942: What Happened in the Past
History has a habit of repeating itself because planets work in cycles to trigger events, and change “comes every seven years” because Uranus stays in each Zodiac sign for about seven years.

Uranus last entered Taurus at the height of the Great Depression.  Massive banking failures across the United States required powerful government interventions.  The Banking Act of 1935 was signed into law, and ushered significant reforms to the structure, powers and functions of the Federal Reserve System.  When World War II broke out, ration stamps became a form of currency.

Interestingly, Monopoly was marketed by Parker Brothers in 1935.  In September 2018, still under the influence of Uranus in Taurus, new Monopoly tokens were unveiled—penguin, rubber ducky and T-rex—and replaced the classic  boot, thimble and wheelbarrow.

What to Do With Your Money
Prepare for the unexpected.  Among your friends, you will need to find a Prepper and a Finance Wiz.  Take them out for coffee and talk about your personal and business finances with them.  Map out different scenarios.

Chairvolotti Financial CEO Ed Chairvolotti recommends good financial housekeeping which entails divvying up funds into three buckets: a short-term emergency fund, retirement savings, and midterm lifestyle savings, such as a vacation fund.  "If people focus on those three buckets of money, they'll be able to weather any type of crisis," he says. "We always have to be prepared today, regardless of what's happening in the market."

According to finance expert Rosemary Peavler, small businesses that thrive in a difficult economy include:

  • Accounting services
  • Bulk food sales
  • Affordable luxury items
  • Debt collection agency
  • Resume writing services
  • Auto repair services
  • Home staging
  • Virtual assistant
  • Tutoring services

Your Three Superpowers URANUS, NEPTUNE & PLUTO

Read Your Next Superpower

Uranus, Neptune and Pluto endow us with superpowers.  They are the higher expressions of the first three Planets that trail the Sun—Mercury, Venus and Mars.

Mercury > Uranus

Venus > Neptune

Mars > Pluto

Mercury rules how we think.  Uranus raises us to a higher way of thinking.

Venus rules how we love.   Neptune teaches us a higher way of using our heart.

Mars rules how we act.   Pluto shows us the higher power of our actions.

As Uranus, Neptune and Pluto race across the sky, they usher situations that enable us to hone our superpowers.

Uranus Superpower: The brilliance of INNOVATION

Neptune Superpower: The truth of INTUITION

Pluto Superpower: The might of TRANSFORMATION

Uranus.  Before we become super-innovative, we must tear down old structures.  Look around you. Identify the structures that no longer serve you.

Neptune.  Before we become super-intuitive, we need to let go of the noise that weigh us down.  Only then can we, once again, hear the truth in our hearts.

Pluto.  Before we become super-transformative, we must enter darkness.  There will be a struggle until we use our last strength to open our inner eye.  Only then can we see the light that will guide us out of our darkness.  We realize, the light that led us was our own light.

Notes

1. The most common distinction made between the planets is "inner planets" versus "outer planets."  The term "inner planets" refers to the seven visible planets—the Sun and the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn.  The "outer planets" are the planets that are only visible with a telescope: Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. The asteroid Chiron functions as a bridge between the inner and the outer planets.

2. The Discovery of Outer Planets

Uranus was first seen around the time electricity was discovered in the mid-18th century.  Since then, Astrologers noticed  Uranus is always involved with new technologies and leaps in progress.  The discovery of Uranus coincided with the beginning of the Industrial Revolution and the French Revolution.

Neptune was discovered in the mid-19th century, a time when Romanticism flourished, a far cry from the dry-intellectualism of the 18th century.

The discovery of Pluto in the early 20th century coincided with two world wars.

3. Man's consciousness expands as new Planets are discovered.

Has My Zodiac Sign Changed THE PRECESSION OF THE EQUINOXES

Q: I came across an article that says, I have been reading the wrong horoscope all along because of the precession of the equinoxes.

The Sun is slipping backwards! From the Age of Pisces, we’re now moving to the Age of Aquarius. So, if I was born Cancer, does that mean I’m really Gemini? Should I be reading Gemini horoscopes instead?

The article also talked about “a new 13th Zodiac sign” called Ophiuchus. Do you know about it?

A (Rami): The article you read is only half of the story; hence, the confusion.

So, let’s clear things up.

Those who claim the Zodiac has shifted are correct.  This phenomenon is known as the Precession of the Equinoxes.  Here’s what happens:

More than two thousand years ago, the Sun would rise between the constellations of Aries and Pisces during the Vernal Equinox (when daytime and nighttime are equal).  Due to precession, the Sun rises nowadays in between the constellations of Pisces and Aquarius during the Vernal Equinox.

That's the first half of the story.

Additional Notes
1. It takes about 26,000 years for the Vernal Equinox to make one complete revolution around the ecliptic (i.e., through all twelve constellations).  It takes around one twelfth of the time—roughly 2,160 years—for the Sun to traverse one Zodiac sign.

2. Because constellations lack clear boundaries, it is difficult to say exactly when the Vernal Equinox will move from the constellation of Pisces to the constellation of Aquarius; thus, the so-called Age of Aquarius is said to begin sometime between 2100 and 2500 AD.

Let’s talk about the other half of the story beginning with one of the biggest debates in Astrology.

THE ZODIAC DEBATE: TROPICAL VS. SIDEREAL

• Classical Western Astrology makes use of the Tropical Zodiac.   Hindu Astrology and modern hybrids of Western Astrology make use of the Sidereal Zodiac.

• The Sun is used in both Tropical and Sidereal Zodiacs to describe the passage of time and define specific points in time.

• Using the Sun, time can be measured by referencing seasons (Tropical time) or the position of the stars (Sidereal time).

• It was Claudius Ptolemy who argued the Sun’s position during the Vernal Equinox which happens on or about March 21 each year should be used as the starting point or 0°Aries of the Tropical year; this system became known as the Tropical Zodiac.

• On the other hand, a Sidereal year begins when the Sun aligns with the Constellation of Aries which currently happens in mid-April.  The Sidereal system is also known as the Fixed Zodiac.

• During Ptolemy’s time the two Zodiac systems—Tropical and Sidereal—were close together (less than a degree apart).  The difference is now about 24° because of the Precession of the Equinoxes.

At present, 0°Aries in a Tropical Zodiac would be equivalent to 05° Pisces in a Sidereal Zodiac.

More on Classical Western Astrology and the Tropical Zodiac

ZODIAC SIGNS AND SEASONS
In the Tropical Zodiac, Aries begins on the first day of Spring, Cancer on the first day of Summer, Libra on the first day of Autumn, and Capricorn on the first day of Winter.

The interpretation of signs—from Aries to Pisces—are based on the sign's position or modality within a season, namely Cardinal, Fixed and Mutable.  The signs are further categorized according to the four elements —Fire, Earth, Air and Water.

3 Modalities x  4 Elements

= 12 Zodiac Signs

The position of the constellations and the Precession of the Equinoxes are of no consequence and have no bearing on how signs are interpreted in Classical Western Astrology.

NO FIXED POINT IN THE UNIVERSE

Why not anchor the Zodiac on constellations?

The Universe has no fixed point; it constantly moves.  So, why would I anchor my orientation on another object that swirls along with the rest?

AS A UNIT OF MEASUREMENT

Signs in Classical Western Astrology are used as units of measurement; each sign consists of 30 degrees of arc.

There are no well-defined borders in the sky and some constellations occupy more real estate than others; thus, making use of the constellations to define the passage of time does not make sense and can be confusing.

WHAT ABOUT OPHIUCHUS

Ophiucus, the Serpent Bearer, has no significance in Classical Western Astrology. The Sun passes through Ophiucus nowadays between Nov 29 to Dec 17.  Ophiucus falls well within the sign of Sagittarius.
