Should I hold on to a past hurt?
To let go of a past hurt—big or small—is not easy. Holding on is a protective mechanism to keep us from getting hurt again.
See if the other person is willing to untie the knots and arrive at a resolution.
Examine the situation squarely to determine:
- Did I give too much or too little?
- Did I set the right boundaries? Were my boundaries too thick or too thin?
Be very honest when answering those questions to avoid similar situations from happening in the future.
Take the road towards forgiveness and letting go.
