Collateral Beauty

MANILA, March 12, 2019 - There have been ominous undertones of death lately. It's not that a planet is causing more deaths—it is just in our faces at this time thru the news, social media feeds, and sadly, when a loved one passes away.

Recently, a plane crashed and there were no survivors. Today, I watched a documentary on Philippine president Duterte's war on drugs and the brutal killings that came with it. And then, came a friend's lament on how short life is.

This Plutonian undertone will continue thru January 2020. It will not blow away anytime soon. Hopefully, my saying this will make you—in your own way—become more accepting, more introspective, and more understanding of Death.

I lost my father eight years ago, and to this day—every single day—I sorely miss him. Death is no stranger to me. Like you, I know what Death feels like. I know what it looks like. But there is collateral beauty in Death. You just have to try your best to see it and believe in it.
